I grew up in Vancouver but have lived in Ucluelet B.C. Canada off and on now for almost 30 years.  I truly believe I was born with a paintbrush in my hand as there was never a time I wasn’t creating Art. I won my first competition when I was 11 and was displayed at the Vancouver BC Art Gallery. I’ve never had “formal” art training. Most of what I’ve learned has come from books or various workshops.
I’m known as “Ucluelet’s Artist”, a title I’m very proud to wear.
I was the president of the Pacific Rim Arts Society for 6 years running and instrumental in revamping the annual Art Show and Craft Fair (which I now organize myself) and was the organizer of “Artists-in-Action” during Whale Fest and various Artisan Markets and events in this area for many years. I also am known for my many murals around town. I have painted all but one.I am also recognized for the many original posters I created for various festivals and events.
I have created in several different mediums and styles and done many commissions too.
My style is eclectic, I am always pushing myself to try more and differently. This is perhaps a reflection on being self taught.
My newest work reflects an exploration into the mythology of our culture, both folkloric and biblical, and how it still applies today. This new work came about from the inspiration of a collection of old photographs I had of my mother spanning the years from the 1940s to the early 1960s. They have given me a unique style that I can truly call my own.
